Aftercare Advice – Nikky Green Massage

After your Sports & Deep Tissue Massage you may experience the following symptoms over the next 24 – 48 hours:
– Cold like symptoms including stuffy, blocked or runny nose
– Hot and increased sweating
– Heightened emotions – high or low
– Sleepy and fatigued or deeply relaxed
– Irritable
– Energised
– Temporary worsening of symptoms
– Increased thirst
– Increased urination
– Sounder sleep
– Soreness & tenderness on areas worked on during your massage

You may experience a headache and/or dizziness due to improved circulation, this should only be temporary. Please be careful when walking or driving after your massage ensuring that you recover sufficiently.

As everyone is different, everyone can react differently to massage treatments. The above symptoms are quite normal and are a good sign that the treatment is working. If you are concerned about any of your symptoms please call the clinic (07734 155240) or contact your GP or phone 111 immediately.

What you should do after your Sports & Deep Tissue Massage:
– Drink plenty of still water over the next 24 hours following treatment
– If you feel tired, rest as much as possible
– Avoid heat treatments (bath/sauna etc) for at least 24 hours
– Avoid sunbeds or the sun if certain oils have been used (photo toxicity) – please ask your therapist for further information if you are planning to partake in these activities
– Avoid strenuous exercise for the next 24 hours
– Avoid alcohol, caffeine and hot spicy foods for at least 12 hours
